When school starts, it always means a time for renewal in teen fashion (read: a time to find a great new look!). The first day of school has passed, and hopefully, the first appearance you made after the summer break was a good one, because first impressions do matter. But never fear, there’s always room for improvement!

Charlotte Ronson Fall 2008 collection [01 Sep 2008|05:51pm]

mootea

’s Fall 2008 inspired collection is about mini dresses & knit cuff suede shoes. I love Ronson for her sense of elegance that flaws into careless look. It’s feminine and fun – pretend you don’t care too much for how you look and you will look like the Fall 2008 girl.

That’s called relaxed glam, babe!

I love different accessories and I think my look is not complete without . Autumn and winter trends dictate large necklases and bangles. Here is one of many varients of for you, check out red coral necklaces.

Coral is one of the most ancient types of as it can be seen worn through thousands of years of history as necklaces, bracelets, hair adornments and pendants. As any other gem, it always looks kind of exquisite and always too good to be considered casual.

Hi there!

Do we have any more experienced Wikipedians here than I? I was setting up my user page when much to my surprise, I discovered that there's no article for SARK on Wikipedia.

Anyone want to tackle that article?

my best friend gave me this book the day of my nephews funeral. It was one of the most amazing gifts ever. I think reading it, helped me in the most peculiar ways. Recently my mom picked it up out of my bookshelf and decided to flip through it. I think for the sake of our woman hood, it brought us a little closer.

Chicago/Milwaukee area plus grrrlies… [12 May 2006|04:43pm]

moiracoon
[ mood | curious ]

I’m participating in a friend’s garage sale next weekend, so I’m going though all of my clothes and figuring out what to take. Now, this seems like a simple task, but it isn’t. I’m coming up with an obscene amount of clothing that I’m motivated to part with, far too much for the event. I decided to just take the summery stuff to the garage sale and possibly do my own garage sale for the colder weather stuff in September. (Some stuff might make it to eBay, but that’s so time-consuming and the fees suck you dry. Yes, I could donate the whole lot to Goodwill, but at this point in my life, the few hundred dollars from a garage sale actually makes a difference in my budget.)

Now, here’s my question: I know that in some other major cities (NY & SF…even Ann Arbor…come to mind), local groups have organized “plus grrrlie swapmeets” or “fat girl garage sales”. Does anyone know if any such thing exists in Chicago or Milwaukee? I’ve been poking around and haven’t come up with much of anything. If I could participate in an existing event, that would be cool. If not…I’m toying with the idea of organizing something myself (famous last words *laughs*).

So…local grrrlies…share the scoop if you know about an existing event! Should there not already be such an animal…I’m wondering if there’s local interest in it. Would you participate in something like this? Would you go to shop it?

Yeah it's the weekend [22 Apr 2006|01:45am]

It has been a very long week at work and I am so so so excited that it is the weekend. The weather here has been beautiful this last week and beginning tonight it is raining and expected to be cold, windy, and rainy all weekend. But, unlike most other people... I LOVE the rain. I will be out in it every single minute. My favourite thing to do is to go "rain painting". Get some food coloring, wait until the sidewalk is very wet and paint on the sidewalk with the food coloring. When it dries, it looks like an impressionistic painting... very fun!!! I love the weekend. Have a great weekend to everyone else!

Not feeling so succulent today . . . [22 Feb 2006|11:04am]

scienceprincess
[ mood | anxious ]

I have never posted here before, but I could dearly use some succulent support today. I work in the corporate world and hate it, so I did a grad school program this last year to get my teaching certificate so I can teach high school biology. I am in the process right now of applying for jobs for this coming fall, and the fear of change is killing me. I am good at my current job, and it feels like jumping off a cliff to even apply for these teaching jobs. I KNOW I will be happier teaching, but I am having a hard time getting past the fear right now . . . It's getting bad enough that I can only sleep if I exercise myself into total exhaustion, which isn't healthy either.

Does anyone have any words of wisdom or support for me today? I am very afraid and discouraged.

Thank you in advance.

Reframing [14 Feb 2006|02:10am]

[ mood | slowly un-stucking my mind... ]

Hi all! First post. ^_^

Feeling stuck and very unjuicy lately. I'm working hard on my Masters, and balancing work and bills at the same time...house is a mess...yada yada yada.

Must take off my swimmies and get out of this negative pool!

Sometimes the real world intrudes and makes us feel we have to be grown ups. Big lists of musts and shoulds materialize...and somehow, the more responsibility is added on, the more "stuck" I feel. I need to learn how to be a grown up and stay young at the same time.

It's okay to do a little at a time, I think. When you feel stuck, I think it's like that big old knot in that book, Maniac MacGee...you just need to be gentle with it, poke and prod a bit, until slowly, the knot begins to relax and detangle...

"Stuck" is another word for cocooning, I think..."Stuck" periods always signify a big change on the horizon...

I'm very tempted to do a big purge...get rid of all my old clothes that I don't like anymore, get rid of old books and papers, throw out broken and useless junk...Get some fresh energy moving through this house...

Fiance and I have begun tentatively putting together a budget and a chore chart...these bits of organization will help us live juicier lives in the long run...by having a clean home and a balanced budget, we'll have more energy and money to put towards our creative dreams.

I think this part of winter makes it more difficult to feel juicy and creatively alive...

(I think the nitty gritty of daily life makes it even harder!)

Must remember to be a human BEING, not just a human DOING.

A very happy V-DAY to one and all! I'm very happy to share my creative journey with everyone. ^_^

smiley-happy [07 Feb 2006|12:14pm]

[ mood | smiley ]

I have this book of things to make you smile. It's so cute and funny, so I thought I'd share...

To make a wish , you throw a coin into a wishing well.
Or if you haven't got a wishing well,
you can stand on your head and throw a coin down a chimney...

We live in an imperfect world.
There's too many traffic wardens,
and the stone is too big in avocados...

What would a chair look like if your knees bent the other way???

Last night I lay in bed looking up at the stars in the sky
and I thought to myself,
"Who's stolen my ceiling???"

Hope they make other people smile too...

Who decides what's creative??? [05 Feb 2006|04:41pm]

[ mood | creative ]

It's weird, when we were little I was always the 'creative' one and my older sister was the 'sensible' one. She still believes that she isn't creative and has no imagination. But she'll wrap presents with such care using pretty tissue paper and coloured ribbons and paint her room. Just because she doesn't draw or paint on paper she thinks she not creative. She wanted to swap one day and her be creative, I agreed because I don't believe she isn't creative, she just hasn't found it yet. I want so much for her to find it.

I have so been flaking on this. I'm sorry, but really, anyone can step in and help me/us all out. And without further ado, I was watching a commercial where a young girl announces that she is not 8 anymore, she is 8 and a half. That made me laugh because when I was young, that half was SO important. Anyone else remember being adamant about that half?
